Last week 4 members of the CentraStage team attended the BETT show in London on the Redstor stand (www.redstor.com – our Education distributor and hosting partner), and we had a hugely productive 3 days. Not only did we catch up with most of our existing Local Authority customers, including Westminster (Westminster casestudy), Merton, Bucks, Manchester and Walsall to name a few, but in total we met with over 50 Local Authorities and a number of other IT service providers.

Despite the ongoing economic gloom BETT was as busy as ever (although the snow on Wednesday hit attendance, it arguably kept away the pesky tyre-kickers J), which reinforces that IT remains pivotal to British education.

So what were the key areas of interest in CentraStage for service providers?

  • Improving the efficiency of their IT support for schools – as budgetary pressures start to bite, for LAs to be able to do more with less and automate many routine IT tasks, thus saving huge amounts of time.
  • Offering a energy-saving service to schools for their PCs.
  • Automating the Capita SIMS SQL 2008 migration process.
  • Remote support – the recent snow also increased interest in our flexible remote support capability.

On this last point (discussed below), our friends at Bucks LA are forging ahead in migrating their schools automatically using CentraStage, saving almost 2.5 hours per school and ensuring the upgrade happens overnight!

And stop press…some fascinating findings from one LA which has just completed a detailed evaluation of CentraStage in schools. They looked at every IT-related task undertaken on behalf of schools over the past 3 months. They discovered that 40% – FOUR ZERO PERCENT – could be automated, resolved or avoided altogether by using CentraStage. Pretty compelling stats and more to follow on this.
In summary it is great to see our Local Authority customers, and their schools, benefitting from CentraStage. To quote Merton Local Authority – “CentraStage has revolutionised the way we work, it really is the best thing since sliced bread”. The hours may be long but comments like that make it all worthwhile.
