  • Pre-packaged Component Monitors are currently available in the CentraStage ComStore and can be downloaded into your own Component Library.
  • This post will take you through the steps as to how you can create your own Component Monitors

Creating Custom Component Monitors

Once a Component Monitor is applied to a device, the Centrastage agent (CAG) checks every 60 seconds for the following text output:

<-Start Result->
OUTPUTVARIABLENAME=Your Warning/error message
<-End Result->

Where OUTPUTVARIABLENAME is an Output Variable that you have defined during the creation of the Component monitor. For example;

I have chosen CSMON_ResultMessage as my output variable name so the text that the CAG will be looking for is:

<-Start Result->
CSMON_ResultMessage=Your Warning/error message
<-End Result->

This example batch script simply checks for the existence of a file on the device. Input variables are used to define the drive, folder and filename. The script will take input variable values from the component monitors which are then set as environment variables during the runtime of the script on the device it has been applied to:

Please note lines 27, 28, 29. In order to echo the < and > characters from a batch script, each must be prefixed with the ^ (carat) character. This only relates to monitors using batch script. The VBS equivalent of this part of the script would be:

Where Message and exit_val are the variable names whose values have been set during the checking logic section of the VB script.

The following screenshot shows what this would look like when setting up this example batch script Component monitor in your Component Library: (more…)
